Li Yao is a VR/XR designer, an artist, and a technologist currently based in Chicago. He received his MFA in Art and Technology Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 2018, and earned his BFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in 2016. Li's VR architectural installation, Bunker was included in SAIC's exhibition in POSTCITY, Ars Electronica 2018. In the same year, Li's animation Swimming Lesson was included in the Mykonos Multimedia Festival curated by Snow Yunxue Fu.
Prior to 2018, Li's works have been featured in venues including but not limited to Art In Clay II : Figurative Speaking, a nationally juried sculpture show in Brooklyn, Olivia Park Gallery in Manhattan's K-town, as well as a collaborative exhibition between the School of Visual Arts and Brno University of Technology in the Czech Republic.
